# Asheville Novice Championship 2025

## Overview

**Description:** *Calling all adult novice BJJ competitors! Tired of entering the white belt division just to have a D1 wrestler as your opponent? If you have 1 year or less of grappling experience (BJJ, Judo, or wrestling), then this tournament is for you.*

- 1 year or less of *cumulative* grappling experience. Some examples:

- Ranked as a WHITE BELT in BJJ

This is an adult tournament. Competitors aged 16-18 will be allowed with the knowledge that they will be in the same division as adult competitors.

Register for two divisions:

We are using Madison bracketing. Weight classes will be determined after registration has closed and competitors will be grouped together based on nearest weight. When you register, you will appear in one giant division, however, we’ll be splitting up the divisions after weigh-ins.

**REGISTRATION PRICES**

All registrations include 2 divisions.

Spectators = Free

Parking = $10 per vehicle

**Pre-registration ONLY event.**You must be registered online by 11:59 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2025. There will be a participant limit of 50 people, in an effort to provide a quality tournament experience.

The Asheville Novice Championship is a fun, beginner-friendly tournament designed to help new grapplers get comfortable competing. It’s all about building skills, confidence, and resilience in a supportive environment. This isn’t a high-stakes event—just a chance to grow, learn, and maybe be crowned “King or Queen of the White Belts!”

*Open Source Jiu-Jitsu is proud to have a strong tradition of hosting accessible, well-organized, and welcoming tournaments in the Western North Carolina region. Our past events include the Asheville White Belt Tournament (4 editions from 2018-2019), Grapple for Good charity Halloween tournament (2017-2023), WNC Shrimp Showdown (2022), and BJJ coordinators for the 2019 Grappling on the Gridiron event. As a local, independent small business, we’re passionate about building a vibrant grappling community. In addition to tournaments, we offer regular BJJ and Judo classes and organize immersive BJJ camps, creating opportunities for growth both on and off the mats.*
