# Brevard BJJ Open > Competition in Melbourne, Florida, United States | August 16, 2025 – August 17, 2025 ## Overview **Event Type:** Competition **Description:** RULE SET WILL BE AS FOLLOWED AND DISCUSSED AT RULES MEETING GI will IBJJF rules and scoring No GI will be New Breed rules and scoring TAKEDOWN Takedown tournament rules You have until last call for takedown brackets to enter Placed to 3rd 1st gets trophy 2/3 get medals Single elimination until semis/loser of semis wrestle for 3rd A takedown is quantified as when one one participant has complete control on the ground of another participant 2-2 minute periods If no winner after regulation time 1 minute Over time If no winner after Over time Tiebreaker Each opponent will start in single leg positioning Each opponent will get an opportunity to score The opponent scoring a takedown wins If both get a takedown the fastest takedown in the breaker wins If both DO NOT get a takedown the fastest one to defend the grip wins No slip rule Constant backing out of competition area and or not aggressively trying to secure a takedown will be penalized. 1 Warning/2 Warning/3 time disqualification Over aggressive sportsmanship will be have 1 warning. Second occurrence disqualification. Any technique used to harm an opponent while attempting or securing a takedown that purposefully injures an opponent is automatically disqualified. Brackets will be built depending numbers and is by division not by experience/rank/class or age Larger brackets may be split in half by weight Light weight and Upper weight divisions Tournament director has the right to combined classes and weights to insure all competitors get competition At extra cost You may enter a higher age division Girls are permitted to enter boys and girls division Attire Compression tops/shorts or wrestling singlet permitted. No loose clothing is to be worn during competition.
