## Overview

**Event Type:** Competition

**Description:** This event is all about mat time, fun, and building experience. We will follow a round-robin, submission only format and guarantee each athlete a minimum of two matches. Please note that ages 7 and under will follow the traditional IBJJF points system to allow for a positive experience for all competitors.

Location: 10542 106 st (Bairro Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu)

Start time: 9:00 am

**Match duration:**

Age 4: 2 minutes (Traditional points)

Age 5-7: 3 minutes (Traditional points)

Ages 8-14: 4 minutes (Sub only)

Ages 15+: 5 minutes

**Tiebreakers:**

In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided at the referee's desecration based on which athlete was the most dominant, offensive, and had the most submission attempts. A submission attempt will only be considered if it puts the other athlete in danger or illicits a meaningful reaction.

**Legal techniques:**

The following are illegal at all levels: Eye-gouging, biting, kicking, punching, slapping, hair-pulling, fish-hooking, spinal attacks, jumping guard, slamming, heel hooks, reaping of the leg

Ages 4-14 (legal moves): Arm bars, Americanas, Kimuras, triangles, RNC, Lapel chokes

Ages 15+: All other submissions allowed

**Uniform:**

Gis must be in good condition and fit properly according to IBJJF uniform standards. Athletes must wear a belt colour according to their rank.

**Winning a match:**

As a general rule, we will avoid disqualifying an athlete. However, for the safety of the participants, the following may result in disqualification at the ref’s discretion:

While the following would possibly result in disqualification or penalty under most competition rules, to keep in the spirit of learning, a ref is encouraged to provide a thorough warning instead in these circumstances:

We will do our best to place everyone in a fair, yet challenging category. As a result, rank, weight classes and (for kids) gender divisions may be combined.
