# Heroes Grappling Tournament

**Description:** **Must be a First Responder (law enforcement, corrections, firefighter, dispatch, EMT, paramedic) to participate in this event*

Spectators and competitor are welcome to join us for a community open mat directly after the tournament

All proceeds will be donated to ADOPT-A-COP BJJ and FIRST RESPONDERS CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION

Competitors are broken up by Department, not academy! Build your team from your employing agency, the winner receives a belt for the Department Champions!!!**

Doors open, weigh ins start at 8am-day of event

Competitor rules meeting 9:45am (optional), grappling starts at 10am

$70 for one entry, $80 for 2 or more. The discount applied at checkout

No Gi Divisions:

Beginner-less than 1 year of grappling experience or BJJ

Intermediate-1-3 years of grappling experience or BJJ

Advanced- More than 3 years of grappling experience or BJJ

RULES:

Weigh in:  1 pound allowance.  Participants can weigh in with or without their gis on.

Clothing:  no pockets or holes in clothing.  Rash guards are suggested, not required.

Gi Durations:  White belt-5 minutes, blue and purple belt-6 minutes, brown and black belts-7minutes

No Gi Durations:  Beginner-5 minutes, Intermediate-6 minutes, Advanced-7 minutes

Absolute Duration:  7minutes

Scoring:  4 points for mount, 4 points for back take, 3 points for a guard pass, 2 points for a sweep, 2 points for a take down, 2 points for a knee on belly. Positions must be established and maintained for 3 seconds before points are awarded.  No advantages. 1 minute overtime at refs discretion for ties.

Illegal  Techniques:

White Belts:  All leg locks are illegal except straight ankle lock, no spine locks, no slicers, no reaping, no jumping guard or scissor take downs, no slamming.

Blue, Purple, Brown, Black and Absolute: No heal hooks, no reaping, no scissor take downs, no slamming

No Gi Beginner :  All leg locks are illegal except straight ankle lock, no spine locks, no slicers, no reaping, no jumping guard or scissor take downs, no slamming.

No Gi Intermediate:  No heal hooks, scissor take downs, now slamming

No Gi Advanced and Absolute:  No slamming
