About This Event
Major League Grappling is coming to Reno with something we’ve never done before.
This is our first-ever MLG Block Party, built around one simple idea:
rewarding athletes and giving back to the jiu-jitsu community in a real way.
This is not a standard tournament.
This is a full-day jiu-jitsu experience built for competitors, families, and the local scene.
We’re doing something most tournaments won’t touch.
This is an 8–16 person, single-elimination event with hard caps at 16 per bracket. We want full brackets — and once they’re full, they close.
Win four matches in a full bracket and you can walk out with $400 on a $50 entry.
No one else is doing that.
Full brackets mean kids can earn up to $200.
Not just first place.
Not finals only.
Every win gets paid.
This structure is aggressive on purpose.
The more people enter, the more you can make.
Brackets are capped.
When they’re full, they’re closed.
If you wait, you miss it.
Kids divisions open the competition, followed by adult divisions throughout the afternoon and evening. The event is designed to flow all day — not rushed, not chaotic.
We open the day with a large outdoor open mat , setting the tone for the entire event.
**Open MAT Ticket can be used for both open mats the AM and PM !!!
Spots are limited and will fill fast.
Registration is quick and easy.
Select the division that best fits you, and our team will organize the brackets accordingly.
Athletes will never be moved up in skill level.
In some cases, participants may be moved up in weight only to help complete brackets and ensure fair competition.
MLG was created to reward the athlete who puts their body on the line every day in training.
This platform is built to support competitors at every level:
If you’ve ever been paid for a grappling match, you are already in the top 1% of the 1% in this sport.
Most competitors never earn a dollar.
We’re changing that.
If there is no submission, judges will determine the winner based on aggression, control, submission attempts, and overall dominance.
The expectation is simple:
Be aggressive. Chase the finish. Earn the money.
This is a full jiu-jitsu block party, not a gym tournament.
Expect:
Come compete.
Come train.
Come watch.
Come party.
This event was built for you.
For the athletes.
For the community.
For the future of the sport.
This payout structure will not exist forever — that’s exactly why this event matters.
This is Major League Grappling.
This is the Reno Block Party.
And this is the future of competition.
• Athletes may be moved up in age or weight if needed to fill brackets • No athlete will ever be moved up in skill level • Coaches are responsible for placing their athletes in the appropriate division • Major League Grappling reserves the right to adjust placements for safety and competitive balance • No refunds under any circumstances — competitors may receive credit for future events, but no cash refunds will be issued
