# Navy Jiu Jitsu November Invitational

## Overview

**Event Type:** Competition

**Description:** FORMAT : Matches will be round robin bracketed at the agreed upon weights. Exhibition matches will follow the conclusion of regularly scheduled matches, but will not be counted towards determining the winning team of the meet. Weigh ins begin at 1000 and matches begin at 1100.

RULES : Each team will be awarded 3 points for a win by submission, 2 points for a win by score, and 1 point for a win by referee's decision or advantages. Matches will be fought with the scoring and allowed submissions of the Grappling Industries no-gi intermediate division, found at  [http://grapplingindustries.com/rules/](http://grapplingindustries.com/rules/). Noteable exceptions to these rules are that toe holds and knee reaping will be disallowed in the interest of safety, and advantages will be included.

Matches will have a 6 minute regular period, followed by a reset and 3 minute overtime in the event of a tie. If a tie persists at the end of the overtime period, a winner will be determined by referee's decision. Competitors will be disqualified for flying attacks targeting the legs and unsportsmanlike conduct at the discretion of the referee.

FAQs:

Competitors will be allowed to weigh in in undergarments only if they so choose. A 1.0 pound allowance will be given for the presence of undergarments. If a competitor fails the weigh in, they will be given until 1100 to make weight. If the competitor still fails weight at 1100, their matches will be moved to exhibition.

Brackets will be separated only by weight, not by skill, in the interest of keeping with competitive collegiate sports. The team with the highest trained athletes should not be handicapped for having better competitors, just as they would not be handicapped in wrestling, football or any other sport.

Blood time will be conducted at the referee's discretion, defaulting to 5 minutes.
