# Pakistan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Open 2023 > Competition in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan | July 08, 2023 ## Overview **Event Type:** Competition **Description:** The Pakistan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu No Gi Open 2023 will be held at the TOYOTA GYMNASIUM at Habib Public School Karachi on Saturday, July 8th 2023. The event will have Adult divisions and, where possible, Master divisions 1-2. ***PLEASE READ OUR COMPETITION RULESET BELOW*** 1. If you are alone in your division at close of registration on Tuesday 4th July, you should either request a move to the next division you are eligible for or withdraw from the event. a. If you withdraw from the event before midday on 4th July, you will be eligible for a refund. If you decide to stay in the competition, then you may be matched in a suitable division by our staff, or they may refund you if no match can be made. 2. You can make changes to your registration details via your smoothcomp account until midday on 4th July. 3. If there are no other registrations in your category you will be allowed to move up in division once registration has closed, available until 4th July midday. 4. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF COMPETITORS TO MOVE DIVISIONS INCASE NO OTHER COMPETITORS ARE AVAILABLE (PLEASE REFER TO 1A INCASE YOU MISS THIS STEP) 5. THE ORGANISER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MATCHMAKING IF YOUR DIVISION IS EMPTY,BUT MAY MAKE CHANGES IF THEY SEE FIT (THIS IS IN CASE YOU HAVE NOT CHANGED YOUR DIVISION, OR THE DIVISION YOU HAVE SELECTED IS NOT APPROPROPRIATE; IN THE CASE OF THE LATTER, PERMISSION WILL BE TAKEN BEFORE MAKING CHANGES). 6. JULY 8th: Doors will open at 08:30am on the day of the event. First matches will be 09:30am. 7. Weigh-ins will be on the day just before your first match. If you FAIL to make weight you will be DQ'd. You will not be able to move divisions on the day. 8. Absolute division registration will take place on the day and will only be open to medallists only. 9. Registration fees will be offered at a discounted rate, then a normal rate, then a late entry rate. Please enter early for the best price. 10. All competitors will receive a free T shirt on the day of the event (while stocks last - sizes cannot be guaranteed). 11. Team trophies will be given to the top three teams and announced at the end of the day. 12. Matches will follow altered ADCC rules with compressed timelines. 13. Any competitor that has a Judo Black Belt or has competed in amateur or professional MMA must register under the Intermediate or Advanced divisions. They will not be allowed in the beginner division. ***RULE-SET TO BE FOLLOWED FOR FIGHTS*** 1. Beginner matches (less than 2 years of BJJ experience) will run 6 minutes. a. First 3 minutes no points will be awarded and only submissions will apply. When the 4th minute starts, points will be active for takedowns (2), guard pass (3), knee on belly (2), mount (4), and back take (4). b. No advantages. c. Beginners will follow the IBJJF rule set with regards to submissions allowed. d. NO REAPING, NO HEEL HOOKS, NO KNEE BARS, NO BICEP & CALF SLICERS, AND NO NECK CRANKS, etc. Suffocation not allowed. 2. Intermediate matches (3-6 years experience in BJJ) will run 8 minutes long. First 4 minutes, no points will be awarded, and only submissions will apply. When the 5th minute starts, points will be active for takedowns (2), guard pass (3), knee on belly (2), mount (4), and back take (4). a. No advantages. b. Intermediate competitors will be allowed all ADCC submissions. THESE INCLUDE HEEL HOOKS, KNEE BARS, BICEP & CALF SLICERS etc. c. No neck cranks. d. Suffocation allowed (hand over nose and mouth) 3. Advanced matches (7+ years in BJJ) will run 10 minutes long. First 5 minutes no points will be awarded, and only submissions will apply. When the 6th minute starts, points will be active for takedowns (2), guard pass (3), knee on belly (2), mount (4), and back take (4). a. No advantages. b. Intermediate competitors will be allowed all ADCC submissions. THESE INCLUDE HEEL HOOKS, KNEE BARS, BICEP & CALF SLICERS etc c. No neck cranks. d. Suffocation allowed ((hand over nose and mouth) The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or admission. The “respect rule” will be in operation,and any competitor, coach or spectator that breaks this rule may be removed from the event. No foul language will be allowed or tolerated. The referee and tables say is final. We will not accept any abuse, threats, or violence towards event staff. Any one found in contradiction of the above may be ejected from the venue and prosecuted.
