About This Event
Immerse your child in the empowering sport of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu during this half-day camp from 9:00am to 12:00pm everyday starting August 5th and running through August 8th!
This camp is open to kids and youth ages 6-15, and to all skill levels - whether this is the first time you will step onto the mats or you are a seasoned competitor, this camp is for you. South Island Jiu-jitsu Day Camp instructors and coaches will promote confidence and build physical literacy through the development of fundamental skills through a variety of fun yet challenging activities, drills, and games.

Skill levels: No experience/Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced

If you do not have a smoothcomp profile, you can also go to https://south-island-open.square.site to register. When you register, please ensure all entries are filled in (Belt/Age/Weight/T-shirt size), and add any additional notes necessary.
Students with no prior Jiu-jitsu experience will NOT need a gi (uniform) as we will accommodate introductory lessons that can be done in regular clothes. Students who are currently training should bring their gi and belt as well as some sessions will include more advanced techniques that utilize the gi for students with prior Jiu-jitsu experience. A free camp t-shirt will also be provided participants to keep*; however, please be sure that your child has freshly laundered clothes for each day of the camp.
Things to bring:
· Comfortable pants or shorts (with no zippers), and a t-shirt (or rashguard)
· Water bottle (plastic or metal, no glass)
· Flip flops or slides
· Jiu-jitsu gi (uniform) *if you have one
Additional recommended items:
· Mouthguard (boil-and-bite style)
· Sunscreen (for any outdoor activities)
· Cash for concession items
As the camp is only half-day, no meals will be provided. Participants will receive a small snack each day included in the camp, and a concession stand will be available for additional snacks and drinks to be purchased. Registrants may bring their own additional snacks to eat during break times, and if your child has specific dietary restrictions, please be sure to pack an appropriate snack for each day.
All registrants will be required to have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver before being permitted to participate. No exceptions.
