REGISTER FOR EITHER GI OR NOGI AND THE OTHER IS FREE!! Black belts compete for free! Early Bird pricing TILL AUGUST 12TH- $70 Normal TILL SEPTEMBER 8TH - $80 Late TILL SEPTEMBER 12TH - $90 **Weigh-In Options and Schedule:** Weigh in on the day of the event or take advantage of the night before weigh-ins. For those choosing the latter, weigh-ins will be held at the venue, 530 Elm Ave, Brookings, SD, between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Day-of-event weigh-ins must be completed at least a half-hour prior to the start time of your division. This ensures ample time for all athletes to prepare for their matches without rush. **Attire for Weigh-Ins:** **WEIGH INS WILL BE DONE ONCE FOR BOTH DIVISIONS AND WITHOUT THE GI. REPEAT- WITHOUT THE GI.**Required attire for the weigh-in is at least shorts and a T-shirt. This approach keeps the process straightforward and respectful for everyone involved. **Weight Classes and Allowance:** The competition's weight classes are listed in the registration materials. Please note there is a 1lb weight allowance; however, competitors are encouraged to be at their registered weight or adjust their registration by Thursday, Sept 12th. This policy is crucial for maintaining fairness across all matches. **Procedure for Athletes Who Do Not Make Weight:** Athletes failing to meet their weight class will be disqualified and will not receive a refund. This rule underscores the importance of selecting an accurate weight class and adhering to the competition's weight guidelines. **Day of Event Weigh-Ins:** Remember, if you're weighing in on the competition day, complete your weigh-in at least 30 minutes before your division's start time. The event's brackets and schedule will be released late on Thursday, Sept 12th, or by the morning of Friday, Sept 13th, allowing you to plan accordingly. The South Dakota Open uses a double elimination bracket. Divisions under 4 athletes will feature a true round robin format. Custom gold, silver, and bronze medals will be provided to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. A banner and podium will be set up for pictures.
