2 Brothers BFC - Brasil
2 Brothers BFC was founded in 1995 in Brasília, Brazil by brothers Júlio César da Silva Lima (Júlio "Pudim") and Sandro da Silva Lima. Both are students of Mestre Banni Cavalcanti, who trained under the legendary Mestre Carlson Gracie, establishing the lineage: Carlson Gracie → Banni Cavalcanti → 2 Brothers BFC. The brothers grew up in a large family of fighters and martial artists, representing Banni Fight Combat (BFC) in numerous jiu-jitsu championships and vale-tudo battles when fighters competed without gloves. In 1999, Júlio traveled to Hawaii to train with his partner Marcelo Tigre at Team Tiger Academy, where he also taught classes. The following year, Sandro moved to Portugal, opening an academy in Costa de Caparica in 2000 and becoming instrumental in spreading Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu throughout Portugal. The training philosophy at 2 Brothers BFC is rooted in discipline, loyalty, and dedication. As Júlio "Pudim" states: "Train! Train so that those who come to fight you feel the rock that you are." The academy emphasizes building character through martial arts, creating a family atmosphere where loyalty makes you family. The brothers' approach combines traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques with practical vale-tudo experience, fostering both technical skill and warrior spirit. The academy is committed to developing not just skilled practitioners, but well-rounded martial artists who embody the values of respect, perseverance, and continuous improvement. The lead instructors are Júlio "Pudim" Lima (5th degree black belt) and Sandro "Bala" Lima (4th degree black belt), the founding brothers who have dedicated over 20 years to teaching jiu-jitsu. Júlio began martial arts at age 13 with judo (influenced by his father), then trained capoeira, Thai boxing, and luta livre before finding his calling in jiu-jitsu under Mestre Guarnair and later Mestre Banni Scovsck Cavalcanti through Mestre Euclides Pereira. Sandro's martial arts journey followed a similar path, training judo, capoeira, luta livre, and Thai boxing from childhood through adolescence, starting jiu-jitsu at 17 with Mestre Guarnair at the Senate headquarters in Brasília before joining Mestre Banni's academy in 1995. Additional instructors include Claudio Lima (3rd degree black belt), Marco Lima (3rd degree black belt), and Claudio Dias (2nd degree black belt), all serving as assistant professors. The team has grown to over 20 affiliates worldwide across Brazil, Portugal, Mexico, and Angola.
