Anderson Barata BJJ

Anderson Barata BJJ, operating at Associação Nova Roma de Jiu Jitsu in Casa Forte, Recife, is led by Professor Anderson Barata, a black belt since 2008 with over 10 years of experience teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense. The academy focuses on practical, reality-based Jiu-Jitsu training with an emphasis on self-defense applications for everyday situations.

Professor Anderson Barata began his Jiu-Jitsu journey in 1994, inspired by Royce Gracie's performance at the first UFC event. He trained under the renowned Mestre Jesiel Andrade, one of Pernambuco's most respected Jiu-Jitsu masters, learning the fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu with a focus on real-world situations and self-defense. His training philosophy emphasizes consciousness, posture, and practical decision-making, ensuring students learn techniques they can apply immediately.

Beyond traditional BJJ training, Professor Barata founded the "Mulher Segura" (Safe Women) program and regularly conducts self-defense seminars open to both men and women. His teaching method is described as simple, direct, and without unnecessary frills—focused on making Jiu-Jitsu accessible with real purpose and personal development. The academy maintains small class sizes to ensure individual attention and safe, progressive instruction for students of all backgrounds and experience levels.
