## Overview

**Name:** Nanni Jiu-Jitsu

**Description:** Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu originated over 2500 years ago. Created by Buddhist monks, a nomadic and frail people who were frequently raided by other groups and who, due to their religious beliefs, could not use weapons, they developed a form of defense based on the study of animal movements, using the principle of leverage that allowed a much weaker individual to overcome a stronger and heavier one.
This fighting style soon spread across Asia and reached Japan, where it became the fighting style of the samurai, skilled warriors whose role was to defend their lords, even with their lives, if necessary.
The samurai mastered various combat techniques such as knives, spears, and bows and arrows, and they used Jiu-Jitsu as their hand-to-hand combat style.
Despite the aggressiveness of the time, Jiu-Jitsu stood out for characteristics such as balance and flexibility that overcame brute force.
