The mission of Black Line Jiu-Jitsu is to democratize Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Montreal by making it accessible to everyone. The organization uses BJJ as a vehicle for personal development, social inclusion, community well-being, and promotion of physical and mental health. Training is offered in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with experienced instructors welcoming students in a safe learning environment where technique, safety, and ethics are always prioritized.
The academy is led by head instructor Benoit Décary-Secours (3rd degree black belt), who has been training since 2003 with extensive experience from training trips to Brazil at renowned academies including Murilo Bustamante, Rocian Gracie Jr, and Helvecio Penna. The coaching team includes Samira Sammoun (black belt), who leads the kids' program with a playful, game-based learning approach, Francis Gareau-Montsion (3rd degree black belt) specializing in no-gi and modern techniques, and Simon Desruisseaux (black belt) who teaches both adult gi classes and parent-child programs.
