**Description:** Black Line Jiu-Jitsu (Ligne Noire Jiu Jitsu) is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 by Benoit Décary-Secours and Francis Gareau-Montsion in Montreal, Quebec. The academy is part of the Fabio Holanda lineage through Brazilian Top Team, with both co-founders receiving their black belts from Fabio Holanda, a pioneer of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Canada. Black Line also maintains an affiliation with Liberta academy in São Paulo, Brazil, strengthening their connection to the international BJJ community.

The mission of Black Line Jiu-Jitsu is to democratize Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Montreal by making it accessible to everyone. The organization uses BJJ as a vehicle for personal development, social inclusion, community well-being, and promotion of physical and mental health. Training is offered in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with experienced instructors welcoming students in a safe learning environment where technique, safety, and ethics are always prioritized.

The academy is led by head instructor Benoit Décary-Secours (3rd degree black belt), who has been training since 2003 with extensive experience from training trips to Brazil at renowned academies including Murilo Bustamante, Rocian Gracie Jr, and Helvecio Penna. The coaching team includes Samira Sammoun (black belt), who leads the kids' program with a playful, game-based learning approach, Francis Gareau-Montsion (3rd degree black belt) specializing in no-gi and modern techniques, and Simon Desruisseaux (black belt) who teaches both adult gi classes and parent-child programs.

### Benoit Décary-Secours - Black

**Role:** Head Instructor

**Bio:** Benoit has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2003 and received his black belt in 2014 from Fabio Holanda, a pioneer of BJJ in Canada. He is the head instructor and co-founder of Black Line Jiu-Jitsu (founded in 2013 with Francis Gareau-Montsion). His journey includes numerous training trips to Brazil since 2007, training at prestigious academies including Murilo Bustamante, Rocian Gracie Jr, and Helvecio Penna. He established an affiliation between Black Line and Liberta academy in São Paulo, strengthening international BJJ connections. He is also an associate professor at the School of Social Work at UQAM, specializing in violence research and community organization.


### Francis Gareau-Montsion - Black

**Role:** Head Instructor

**Bio:** Francis is a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He began training in 2005 and received his black belt in 2016 from Fabio Holanda of Brazilian Top Team. In 2013, he co-founded Black Line Jiu-Jitsu with Benoit Décary-Secours, driven by a desire to share his passion and make jiu-jitsu accessible to a diverse clientele. Driven by constant curiosity about the evolution of the sport, Francis is particularly interested in modern techniques and no-gi practice (submission wrestling). His teaching emphasizes understanding fundamental principles, movement fluidity, and developing an effective personal style in both recreational practice and competition.


### Samira Sammoun - Black

**Role:** Instructor

**Bio:** Samira started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2013 to deepen her ground game knowledge for MMA competition preparation. Over time, she chose to dedicate herself entirely to jiu-jitsu. She received her black belt from Benoit Décary-Secours. Since 2019, she has been teaching Black Line's kids' program in a fun atmosphere that promotes learning through play while transmitting values of respect and discipline essential to martial arts practice. She is an engineer by training and dedicates her career to sustainable development.


### Simon Desruisseaux - Black

**Role:** Instructor

**Bio:** Simon began in MMA in 2003 and eventually focused on BJJ. Despite two long breaks due to life changes, his passion for this martial art always pushed him to return to training and progress, eventually receiving his black belt from Benoit Décary-Secours. Throughout his years of practice, Simon has taught both adult and children's groups. In real life, Simon is a trained engineer, manufacturing manager, and father of 3 young children.
