Gracie Barra Vancouver

Gracie Barra
Gracie Barra Vancouver is part of the global Gracie Barra network, one of the world's most respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organizations with over 1,000 schools worldwide. Founded on the principles established by Master Carlos Gracie Jr., Gracie Barra follows a structured curriculum that ensures consistent, high-quality instruction across all affiliates. The Vancouver location maintains the organization's commitment to excellence in martial arts education while fostering a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere.

The gym offers a comprehensive range of programs designed for all ages and skill levels. Adult programs include the GB1 Fundamentals course for beginners, which condenses the immense diversity of Jiu-Jitsu into core fundamental moves combined intelligently and safely to optimize learning. A specialized women's program (GBF) is designed to meet the specific learning needs of women starting Jiu-Jitsu, incorporating adaptations and techniques that build confidence in a supportive environment. The kickboxing program provides a complete striking curriculum for students looking to develop their stand-up game and overall fitness.

The coaching staff is led by Professor Max Nakamura as Head Instructor, supported by Coach Jinsoo Han who specializes in youth instruction, Professor Brancao, and Professor Ja. The youth programs cater to children ages 3-15, emphasizing core values like focus, discipline, persistence, cooperation, and respect through age-appropriate Jiu-Jitsu training. An after-school program is also available for children ages 5-12, providing transportation from school and combining martial arts training with character development activities.
