The Combat Academy

The Combat Academy prides itself on providing a safe and effective training environment where students can achieve multiple goals: getting and staying fit, having fun, making new friends, meeting new challenges, improving confidence, learning new skills, mastering self-defence, and achieving their personal goals. The academy offers flexible membership options including weekly attendance plans, unlimited training, family packages, student discounts, and special rates for veterans and emergency services personnel.

The gym is led by Head Coach Dave Coles, a 4th degree BJJ black belt under Braulio Estima (awarded July 2025), who brings over three decades of martial arts experience. Dave is also a Judo 5th Dan black belt and was the 1999 World Masters Judo Champion. He is a certified IBJJF referee who has officiated at the European Championships and other major events. Additional coaching staff includes Patrick Baker, a 2nd degree BJJ black belt and 2016 IBJJF European Champion, along with instructors Dean Bradbury and Nicky Taylor.
