Master Sá went on to become one of the few BJJ practitioners to achieve the highly esteemed rank of Red Belt (Grand Master), attaining this honor after 54 years as a black belt. The Sá family is considered the equivalent of the Gracies in Northeast Brazil, having produced world-class fighters including Guybson Sá, Robson Sá, Daniel Beleza, Jorge Gurgel, and Marcus Aurelio.
