Checkmat V1SION BJJ is an authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy located in Ladera Ranch, California, affiliated with the prestigious Checkmat team. The academy embodies the traditional concept of 'Vision' in martial arts, dating back over 500 years to Japan, emphasizing the importance of seeing both the fine details up close and the bigger picture. Under the leadership of Professor Marcello 'Captain' Capociama, a 3rd degree black belt from Santos, Brazil, and Coach Allan Aguilera, a dedicated brown belt since 2015, the gym provides comprehensive training for students of all ages from 4 to adult.
The academy's mission is to teach and mentor each student so they gain the skills and tools needed to reach their goals and dreams, emphasizing that with vision and commitment, anything is possible. Vision 1 BJJ offers a family-oriented environment with programs ranging from M1cro Rollerz for 4-6 year olds through adult classes, all designed to promote physical wellbeing through full-body conditioning, mental wellbeing through strategic 'mental chess' on the mats, social wellbeing through strong community bonds, and practical skill building applicable to many aspects of life. The facility is known for its clean, well-maintained training spaces and welcoming atmosphere where students become family on the mats.
