Mike was always a life long athlete but found Jiu Jitsu at 18 and transitioned to MMA a few months into training. Mike had his first fight in MMA in 2010, and continued MMA to the professional stage, having 12 professional fights on some of the biggest regional shows in the midwest. Mike trained in the Gi up to purple belt, until meeting Omar Ocasio, owner of 10th planet Lombard, and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and system, and continued under 10th planet, receiving his black belt in February of 2024. Mike had made the move to South Carolina in 2022, opening up Clemson Jiu Jitsu with the vision of turning it into a 10th planet. Spreading Jiu Jitsu to a well populated area that lacked the Jiu Jitsu scene for anyone looking for an outlet, if it be, sport, self defense, fitness, or a therapeutic release. We are a one stop shop, striking classes, Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, even nutritional help! As head coach Mike is affiliated with Lockhart and leith nutrition services for athletes.
