Fabiano Scherner, commonly known as "Pega Leve," is a German-Brazilian professional mixed martial artist and accomplished BJJ competitor. He earned his black belt under the legendary Murilo Bustamante and Luis Roberto "Bebeo" Duarte, training with Brazilian Top Team (BTT) in Brazil. Scherner has won multiple championships on the international stage including World No-Gi Championships, Masters World Championships, Pan-American Championships, and American National titles in both gi and no-gi divisions.

Beyond competition, Fabiano has fought professionally in mixed martial arts for prestigious organizations including the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Cage Rage, and the International Fight League (IFL). His cross-training experience with elite grapplers like Jeff Monson in Olympia, Washington helped shape his technical and strategic approach to teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he now shares with students at Chess Lab BJJ locations.
