Arise Jiu Jitsu was founded in July 2018 in Miami, FL, created out of a strong passion and ceaseless commitment to making learning easy and accessible. The academy provides quality, high-level training to students of all ages and levels, teaching not only the sport aspect of jiu jitsu but self-defense as well. Arise is an IBJJF Certified school focusing on developing good moral character and respect, which is a founding virtue of the bushido code. Arise Martial Arts is family-owned and operated, led by Professor Daniel "Diesel" Fundora, a 2nd Degree IBJJF Certified Black Belt who is also a Masters World Champion (2017). Professor Fundora received his black belt in December 2018 under Professor Michel Porfirio Pereira at Carlson Gracie Miami. His wife, Professor Michelle Fundora, is a black belt (promoted January 2025) who manages the academy and heads the Little Kids Program, Women's Self Defense, and various other programs. She is a retired law enforcement officer with 10 years of service. The academy offers programs for children starting at age 3 through adults, including Little Kids, Kids, Teens, Adults, and Competition Team programs. The facility is well-kept, clean, and welcoming, with a team dedicated to helping students acquire foundational skills and develop confident minds. Arise Martial Arts is extremely involved in evolving the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and regularly hosts seminars with high-level instructors including Clark Gracie.

Founded and led by Professor Leon Barrocas, a 2nd degree black belt under the prestigious lineage of Grand Master Carlson Gracie, the academy represents a rich tradition of excellence in martial arts instruction. Professor Barrocas began his journey in 2007 under Master Moacir "Boca" Oliveira, a student of Ricardo DeLaRiva, and later trained and competed under Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu, founder of Team FightSports. The academy's mission extends beyond technical instruction—they strive to inspire people to live healthy, positive, and productive lifestyles that motivate others to become better versions of themselves. Their vision is to become the premier purveyor of the jiu jitsu lifestyle in South Florida, using martial arts as an instrument to help students develop life skills, mental fortitude, problem-solving abilities, and self-defense capabilities while achieving peak physical fitness. This holistic approach creates a supportive community where students of all ages build confidence, discipline, and lasting results both on and off the mats. Under Professor Barrocas' leadership, students have achieved remarkable competitive success, earning multiple medals at IBJJF Opens, Panamerican Championships, and American National tournaments. His accomplishments include being a 4x American National Champion and 2x Masters World tournament medalist. The coaching team also includes Master Robert "Lobster" Schwartz (4th degree black belt), Professor Alex Pompa (double black belt in Jiu Jitsu and Judo), and other experienced instructors who ensure world-class training for everyone from toddlers to adults. The facility features extensive mat space, a dedicated gym with weights, and even an Acai bar, creating a complete training environment for martial arts excellence.
