Champion Jiu Jitsu is a premier Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Arlington Heights, Illinois, offering world-class instruction for students of all ages and skill levels. The academy is led by Master Asu Harvard, a 5th-degree IBJJF black belt and Japanese Kodokan Judo black belt who obtained his black belt in 1993 from Master Roberto Lage and the São Paulo Jiu Jitsu Federation (FPJJ) in Brazil—making him one of the very first to achieve this distinction in the early 1990s.
As an official representative of FPJJ since 1997, Master Asu established his first academy in Chicago and has since earned the title "The Scholar of Jiu-Jitsu" by training thousands of students, producing hundreds of competitors, and coaching dozens of world champions. With over three decades of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA coaching expertise, Master Asu's mission is to preserve the traditions and legacy of his masters while upholding the dedication, loyalty, and pride central to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Champion Jiu Jitsu's lineage traces back through Master Roberto Moreira Lage (7th-degree red belt and Vice President of FPJJ) and Master Octavio de Almeida Jr. (8th-degree red belt and President of FPJJ). The academy offers programs including Kids Gi BJJ, Kids No-Gi BJJ, Kids MMA/Kickboxing, Adult Gi BJJ, Adult No-Gi BJJ, Russian Style Wrestling, and MMA Striking. Students benefit from an inclusive learning environment, strong community atmosphere, and instruction focused on character development, self-defense, fitness, and competitive excellence.
