At BTT Jax, the academy is committed to helping each student reach their personal goals, whether learning self-defense, becoming a successful competitor in martial arts, or getting in shape in a fun and engaging way. The facility features 2,400 square feet of training space, including 1,600 square feet of continuous mat space, providing an optimal training environment. The academy's approach focuses on technical precision, combining fundamental BJJ techniques with advanced strategies, ensuring students develop a well-rounded skill set suitable for both self-defense and sport competition.
The academy is led by head instructor Marcello "Salazar" Bergo, a world champion 4th degree black belt under Murilo Bustamante. Professor Bergo has competed and won at the highest levels of BJJ, submission grappling, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, and mixed martial arts. His technical knowledge and competition experience, combined with his dedication to teaching, make him an exceptional instructor. Marcello has brought his expertise to Jacksonville with the aim of producing the most successful BJJ program in the area, striving to teach his students everything he knows about BJJ while maintaining a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere.
