## Bio

Andressa Cintra, a Checkmat black belt under Sebastian Lalli, built her reputation on a late start and relentless work ethic—she took up jiu-jitsu at fifteen, struggled to learn even a basic hip escape, and won her first Brazilian National title only four months after earning her blue belt from Rodrigo Feijão’s student João Guedes. After brief stints with Guigo Jiu Jitsu under Luiz Guilherme and Caio Almeida’s academy, she returned to Paraná and found her strongest competitive form under Lalli, who promoted her to black belt in December 2017. She later moved to the United States, married Gracie Barra standout Lucas Valente, and joined his team.
