Carlos Machado is an 8th Degree Coral Belt and one of the most respected figures in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Born November 9, 1963, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he is the eldest of the legendary Machado brothers and cousin to the Gracie family. Trained directly by Grand Master Carlos Gracie Sr. and Rolls Gracie, Carlos is one of the pioneers who introduced BJJ to the United States in the early 1990s. Known as the "Godfather of Jiu-Jitsu" in Texas and the Southwest, he moved to Dallas in 1995 to film "Walker, Texas Ranger" with Chuck Norris and established the foundation for BJJ in the region. Carlos has promoted numerous world-class black belts including Rafael Lovato Jr., Travis Lutter, Anthony Perosh, and Elvis Sinosic.
