**Name:** Jason Rau

**Belt Rank:** Black Belt

**Date of Birth:** October 03, 1989 (age 37)

## Bio

A late-starting wrestler from Long Island who made the jump to jiu-jitsu at age twenty, Jason Rau accelerated through the ranks under Matt Serra, receiving his black belt from Serra on February 16, 2016. Rau’s game shifted early toward submission-grappling and submission-only formats, prioritizing finishes over positional grinding. After black belt he integrated into John Danaher’s New York City training room, becoming a core member of the Danaher Death Squad and competing in events like Kasai Pro and the BJJ Fanatics Grand Prix, where his relentless finishing style and deep wrestling base made him a consistent threat.
