A lower-limb submission specialist who learned directly from Gokor Chivichyan, Joe Baize built his reputation on Hayastan-infused leg locks and a 100% submission victory rate across an eight-year MMA career. A Kentucky native, he started jiu-jitsu at 15 under Jason Keaton at Louisville Pankration, later co-founding Nice Guy Submission Fighting with Warren Brooks. His black belt came from Josh Johnson (Luiz Palhares Association) in 2011. After years heading his own team, Baize moved to Josh Hayden’s Owensboro Gracie in 2018 and joined Tom DeBlass’s association by the end of 2019.
