## Bio

Marcus Almeida, commonly known as "Buchecha," is one of the most successful jiu-jitsu competitors in history.&nbsp;

Buchecha holds the record for most IBJJF World Championship titles (13). He is also a four-time No-Gi World champion, a two-time ADCC Champion, and six-time UAEJJF World Pro Champion.

Born on January 8, 1990 in Sao Vicente, Brazil, Almeida began training in jiu-jitsu as a teenager with instructor Rodrigo Cavaca. Cavaca promoted Buchecha to black belt on the podium at the World Championships in 2010 after Buchecha won double-gold at brown belt.

Buchecha moved to the United States in 2012 and started a reign of dominance at the IBJJF World Championships, winning gold in the ultra heavyweight division in seven of the eight years between 2012 and 2019, and winning open weight gold in six of those years.

Buchecha has switched his focus to building his mixed martial arts career. He is currently a member of American Top Team in Coconut Creek, FL, and is signed for his MMA debut with the Singapore-based organization, One Championship.
