## Overview

**Name:** Yuri Hendrex

**Date of Birth:** April 06, 1996 (age 30)

## Bio

Born in the Amazonian city of Macapá, Amapá, Yuri Hendrex started jiu-jitsu at fourteen under Mardem Brito “Tubarão” after a hot-tempered football career proved too combustible. He was already a full-time competitor by blue belt. A purple-belt workshop visit from Cicero Costha led to Hendrex and his training partner Ayan Martins sleeping on Costha’s floor during a CBJJE World Championship, which cemented his move to São Paulo and PSLPB. Promoted to black belt by Costha in December 2020, Hendrex carries a tribute on his belt: Ayan Martins, his best friend who passed in 2017.
