Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Firenze - Rio Grappling Club Firenze

Rio Grappling Club Firenze is an international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team founded in 2003 by three-time world champion Roberto Atalla, a 4th-degree black belt from Brazil. The Florence academy is led by Professor Matteo Calamandrei, a 1st-degree black belt who serves as the head instructor.

With numerous affiliated schools across central Italy, Rio Grappling Club Firenze actively competes in major national and international competitions, consistently achieving significant results. Matteo's martial arts journey began in the late 1990s, pioneering combat sports training in Wrestling, Judo, Submission Wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Today, he is recognized as one of Italy's strongest black belts in his weight category and was named captain of the Italian National Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team in 2012.

The academy teaches both Gi and No-Gi (Grappling) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, offering training sessions for recreational practitioners and competitive athletes. Classes are available for adults at all skill levels, from fundamentals to competition training, as well as specialized programs for children ages 5 and up. The training philosophy emphasizes continuous improvement through frequent travel to international schools and seminars across Europe, Brazil, and the United States.
