He has achieved success in various tournaments, including medals from IBJJF and multiple NAGA victories. Carpio Jiu-Jitsu

Carpio Jiu Jitsu is a Checkmat affiliate in Long Beach, California, offering comprehensive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training for all ages and skill levels. The academy focuses on the learning process rather than external rewards such as medals or belts, emphasizing comprehension and continuous improvement. Their philosophy is straightforward: "Learn. Stay Curious. Enjoy the Process. Master your Craft." The gym's mission is to share the countless benefits of jiu jitsu with the community. Through structured programs, students develop not only physical fitness and proven self-defense skills, but also increased confidence, resilience, and problem-solving abilities. The academy provides a training environment that creates an immersive learning experience through an all-inclusive, direct approach to teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Gustavo Carpio, the head instructor, began training in October 1998 in Lima, Peru under Professor Jorge Balarin. He later trained under Professor Sergio Correa "Marra" who awarded him his purple belt, brown belt, and black belt. As a competitor, Professor Gustavo achieved gold at the American Nationals at purple belt, and earned bronze medals at the Pan Americans as both a purple and brown belt. His most notable achievement was a bronze medal at the 2008 World Championship as a brown belt. After working in psychology, he moved to the United States in 2009 to teach and compete in jiu jitsu full time. From 2004 to 2009, he taught and trained at Sniper Gym in Lima, Peru.

Area 502 Mixed Martial Arts

Blake O'Neil, known as "Coach O Cinco," is a purple belt under Coach Perkins with a 7-1 MMA record and experience training UFC fighters at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. The team also includes multiple Carlson Gracie Jr. black belts: Alex Hacker (former wrestling coach and Thai boxing practitioner), Joshua Dominguez (MMA veteran), and Roger Skillman (specialist in gi chokes). Ruben Vargas, a brown belt with world and national championships in sport karate and an OEF Army veteran, rounds out the exceptional coaching staff. Casa Chimeyo USA

Casa Chimeyo is an international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts network founded by Professor Enrique Alfonso Rivera Chimeyo, also known as "El Especialista" (The Specialist). With over 30 years of martial arts experience, Professor Chimeyo holds a 3rd degree black belt in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Aikido, and is a former MMA fighter and national champion in Mexico. He is the President and Founder of Casa Chimeyo Association, which has developed into an international network with affiliated schools across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The academy's philosophy centers on three core principles: "ENSEÑAMOS CON VOCACION" (We teach with vocation), "ENTRENAMOS CON DIRECCION" (We train with direction), and "CRECEMOS EN COMUNIDAD" (We grow in community). AOJ Mission Viejo

Art of Jiu Jitsu (AOJ) Academy is one of the world's most recognized Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training centers, founded in July 2012 as a collaborative effort between the legendary Mendes Brothers (Rafael & Guilherme) and RVCA founder PM Tenore. Base Camp Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Base Camp Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a dedicated BJJ academy located in Mt. Shasta, California, offering comprehensive martial arts training for both children and adults. The gym focuses on building confidence and character through the practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a martial art and combat sport that emphasizes grappling and ground-fighting techniques with the goal of gaining dominant positions and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force opponents to submit. The academy is led by owner and head instructor Woody Hosler, a 2nd Degree Black Belt who began his BJJ journey in 2008 under Matthias Meister at NOLA BJJ in New Orleans, Louisiana. After relocating to Dallas, Texas in 2011, Woody continued his training at Octagon MMA where he developed his passion for the "gentle art" under the guidance of Octavio Couto Jr. In October 2018, Woody was promoted to black belt by Octavio Couto Jr. and Rafael Lang. The coaching team also includes Bobby Hamill, a black belt who started training under Bruno Bastos in September 2015 in Midland, Texas, received his blue belt on the podium of the American Nationals in July 2016, and his purple belt on the podium of Master Worlds. Bobby was awarded his black belt under Tanner Rice in May 2023. Both instructors bring extensive competition experience and a deep commitment to teaching the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Base Camp BJJ offers over 20 classes per week with programs tailored to different age groups and skill levels, including Kids BJJ (ages 4-8), Young Adults (ages 9-14), and Adult programs. The academy provides a welcoming environment with a Gi Loan Library for new students, allowing them to borrow gis without pressure while they explore the art. The gym also supports the local law enforcement community by offering complimentary memberships to all active College of the Siskiyous Law Enforcement Academy cadets, demonstrating their commitment to community service and the practical applications of BJJ training.

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Murrieta Head Instructor Bio Andrew Murillo, better known as “Coach Drew” is a 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt under Master Eddie Bravo. Drew started training at 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu back in 2011 under Eddie Bravo Black Belt, and Head Instructor of 10th Planet Van Nuys, Alder Hampel. It was about 2 years into his purple belt, when he decided to relocate to Murrieta, CA. to pursue his passions of teaching, competing, and building a team. Since then, he has achieved the rank of Brown Belt, and earned the titles of “Gracie National Champion” and “N.A.G.A. Expert Champion”. Drew has built a great foundation in Murrieta for learning, growth, and positivity through 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. His passion for Jiu JItsu and for teaching are undeniable and you will experience it with every class. 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Murrieta is committed to giving an authentic and positive Martial Arts experience.
