Brazil-021 Matriz

Brazil-021 Matriz is the headquarters of the Brazil-021 School of Jiu-Jitsu, located in Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Founded by renowned black belts André "Negão" Terencio and Hannette Staack, Brazil-021 takes its name from Rio de Janeiro's telephone area code (021), paying homage to the city where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu initially developed most strongly. The academy is led by Professor Flávio Aleluia, a 6th degree black belt under Master Carlos Henrique, who serves as André Terencio's right-hand man at the headquarters. Professor Aleluia has been a black belt since 1998 and brings decades of experience to the team. The matriz also features other accomplished instructors including Professor Thiago Rogerio, Professor Thiago Leiras, and Professor Andre Machado. BJJ Team Bern Karkará is a non-profit club based in the heart of Bern, Switzerland, training on 170 m² of mats. Founded in 2015 by Hércules Da Silva (Black Belt 1st Degree), the gym was re-established as a member-run association in 2023 when a dedicated group of students came together to continue their BJJ journey. The team now trains under Prof. Robson "Robinho" Dantas, a 5th degree black belt under Prof. Jair Lourenço Medeiros, with a direct lineage to Mitsuyo Maeda through Carlos Gracie, Carlson Gracie, and André Pederneiras. Buen BJJ

BuenBJJ is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy located in Iwatsuki-ku, Saitama, established in 2018 as an affiliated team of PUREBRED, one of Japan's oldest BJJ academies. The gym provides a welcoming curriculum suitable for complete beginners, with programs designed for various goals including health maintenance, competition training, and personal development. The academy is led by head instructor Isamu Shishido, who has approximately 30 years of BJJ experience. Shishido began training under Enson Inoue (who learned from Rickson Gracie) in 1997, and has taught classes at PUREBRED since 2000. He has trained extensively in Brazil through three long-term training camps. As a competitor, Shishido became the first Japanese brown belt to win a World Championship in the adult division, and achieved two consecutive Asia Championship victories at black belt, along with placing in the top 8 at the World Championships. He completed his competition career in 2011 and pursued specialized trainer education to enhance his coaching expertise. The kids program is coached by Yumi Ohashi, who began BJJ after her children started training. Professor Charles Anzalone is a distinguished black belt who received his rank from Master Ricardo De La Riva, making him the first and only American black belt under the legendary De La Riva. Anzalone's training journey began in Chicago under Grand Master Carlson Gracie Sr., where he lived and trained twice daily. His lineage traces through two of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's most influential figures: Carlson Gracie Sr. and Ricardo De La Riva. After Carlson Gracie's passing, Anzalone continued his development under Master de la Riva, who awarded him his black belt in August 2008. Professor Anzalone has also received degrees from Master Cyborg Abreu, further cementing his credentials in the BJJ community.

Buffalo United Martial Arts (BUMA) is a premier martial arts academy located in the heart of Downtown Buffalo, New York. Since becoming a proud member of Essential BJJ under Professor JT Torres in 2021, the academy has established itself as the leading training facility in Western New York, offering world-class instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA, and more. The academy's training philosophy centers on creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where students of all skill levels can thrive. BUMA offers a comprehensive range of programs including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (gi and no-gi), Muay Thai kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts, boxing, judo, sambo, and specialized fitness classes. Led by a team of highly experienced instructors including head instructor Josh Ketry (black belt under Charles Anzalone, training since 1997), the academy emphasizes technical excellence, mutual support, and continuous improvement.
