Highlights: Alexandro Ceconi vs Keenan Cornelius, Ryan Hall, Roberto de Abreu Filho, aka Cyborg
From Ceconi BJJ Brasil
Ryan Hall is an American black belt and instructor in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is known for several competitive achievements, ranging from Mundial and ADCC victories to dozens of Grapplers Quest championships. He is the winner of The Ultimate Fighter Season 22.
Keenan Cornelius is an American martial artist. His competitive achievements include what has been called a "grand slam" in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, having won double gold medals at four major tournaments: the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, Pan-American Championship, European Open Championship, and Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championship - as a purple belt. He is also known for creating guard techniques such as the Worm Guard.
Roberto de Abreu Filho, aka Cyborg, is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) competitor, the academy owner, and the instructor. A 7-time World No-Gi Champion, Abreu is known for his trademark Tornado Guard position, which involves inverting underneath the opponent and elevating them into a sweep.
Roberto de Abreu Filho grew up in rural Brazil and was affiliated with Nova Geracao. In 2000 Abreu was in a car accident and was left with 300 stitches on his left arm. He was told he wouldn’t be able to move his arm again, but four months later, he won silver at the Brazilian Nationals. His coach told him that only a cyborg could make a comeback this fast. The name Cyborg then stuck with him.
Abreu is a very active BJJ competitor and coach with multiple titles, including gold medals in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2017, 2019, and the 2021 IBJJF No-Gi World Championships. He also won the ADCC Absolute title in 2013. Abreu currently lives in Miami, United States, where he runs his academy, Fight Sports, coaching multiple high-level BJJ athletes.
Alexandro Ceconi
Lineage: Mitsuyo Maeda - Carlos Gracie - Helio Gracie - Rilion Gracie - Alexandro Ceconi
Alexandro Ceconi was born in Santa Catarina State, Brazil. He is a black belt under Rilion Gracie, the youngest son of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu founder Carlos Gracie. Alexandro was still working as a car salesman, training his conditioning in the morning and his Jiu Jitsu at lunchtime and night, until 2008, when he decided to turn professional.
In December 2009, Ceconi made his MMA debut, submitting the “Furacão Fight Team” prospect Eder Junior with a first-round armbar. Alexandre had his second MMA fight scheduled at the “Floripa Fight” event in April 2010 but had to postpone after winning the Gramado (Brazilian South) trials for the World Pro cup and consequently having to fight the final stage of the event in Abu Dhabi very close to that date. Continuing with his fantastic run in 2010, he won the Brazilian National Championship (also known as the Brasileiro), winning the tournament impressively despite suffering from tonsillitis.
By the end of 2011, Alexandro Ceconi left his old team (Rilion Gracie Academy) to open his own BJJ academy, which he called Ceconi Team.
