Road Trip Disaster to Championship Victory | PAN IBJJF JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP 2026

Lucas was driving the second car with Pablinho and Mayara when suddenly the tire exploded and came completely off the car. We were stranded on the highway for almost two hours while I frantically called four dealerships trying to find a replacement tire with nobody having one available. The stress was unreal but the most important thing is that everyone was safe. Despite the chaos, we finally made it to Orlando.

Day one arrived and what happened next was absolutely incredible. Pablinho had an amazing run going through thirty eight matches total. But what makes this victory so special is the story behind it. Last year Pablinho came to this exact same Pan American Championship and lost in the first fight in just thirty seconds. The same Pablinho who lost in thirty seconds one year ago is now standing as a Pan American champion.

After his victory he dedicated it to his mother, his family, and especially his grandfather who is in heaven. The emotion in his voice when he thanked everyone was overwhelming. He thanked God, his family, and the Jiu Jitsu for Good project for giving him so many opportunities. This is what jiu jitsu is about - the journey, the perseverance, the comebacks, and proving that hard work pays off. From losing in thirty seconds to becoming a champion in one year shows what dedication and never giving up can accomplish.
