Failed Body Lock Grip To Quick Hop Over Pass

When you're attempting a body lock pass but can't get your hands locked, you can transition to hopping over the butterfly guard into side control by following these steps: 1. **Maintain Pressure**: - Keep pressure on your opponent to prevent them from creating space. Even if you can't lock your hands, maintain a strong grip on their body. 2. **Position Your Legs**: - Position your legs close to your opponent's hips to minimize their movement and control their guard. 3. **Hop Over the Butterfly Guard**: - In one explosive movement, hop over your opponent's butterfly guard. Aim to clear both of their legs with your hips. - Your hips should land past their legs, towards their side, and your upper body should stay low to maintain pressure. 4. **Drive Rear Leg Into Opponent’s Legs**: - As you land, use your rear leg to drive into your opponent's legs. This helps turn their legs to the outside, making it harder for them to re-guard. - Your knee should come close to their hip, applying pressure and pinning their legs. 5. **Establish Side Control**: - As you land in side control, adjust your upper body to secure a tight position. Use your far-side underhook and crossface to control their upper body. - Ensure your hips stay low, and keep your weight distributed to maintain control and prevent them from regaining guard. This sequence requires good timing and balance, so practice it with a training partner to refine your technique and fluidity.
