Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori (CBJJS) is a premier BJJ academy located in Denver, Colorado, founded by Professor David Ruiz, a 5th degree black belt. The gym is currently led by Head Instructor Professor Sean Stewart, a 3rd degree IBJJF Certified Black Belt who has been training since 2004. Sean is a highly accomplished competitor with numerous championships including 2023 IBJJF World No-Gi Championship Silver Medalist, 2018 IBJJF Denver International Open Gold Medalist, and 2018 IBJJF World No-Gi Championship Silver Medalist. CBJJS offers comprehensive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training for all ages and skill levels. The academy's lineage traces directly from Mitsuyo Maeda through Carlos Gracie Sr., Carlos Gracie Jr., and Rigan Machado to David Ruiz and Sean Stewart, representing authentic Gracie Jiu Jitsu instruction. The school emphasizes learning techniques against fully resisting opponents and follows the teaching methodology passed down from Rorion, Royce, and Helio Gracie. The gym features a diverse program schedule including morning Wrecking Crew classes, lunchtime sessions, evening Nightcrawlers classes, kids programs (Little Lions for ages 9 and younger, Young Athletes for 10+), fundamentals/self-defense classes, striking classes, and a popular Sunday Community Open Mat that welcomes athletes from all academies. With instruction from Professor Sean Stewart, Professor Teri Stewart (1st degree black belt), and Coach Steve Gonzales (brown belt), CBJJS provides world-class BJJ training in a community-focused environment in the Central Park area of Denver.
