CDA Jiu-Jitsu is the premier Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, offering world-class instruction in a welcoming, high-energy environment for kids, teens, and adults. Founded in 2022 by Professor Shawn Lawrence, an IBJJF Certified Black Belt and National Coaches Education Program Silver Coach, the academy is affiliated with Master Rigan Machado and the Rigan Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association. Professor Shawn Lawrence brings over 15 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience to CDA Jiu-Jitsu. He earned his black belt in 2022 under Master Rigan Machado, a global Jiu-Jitsu icon and member of the legendary Machado Brothers. Professor Shawn's competitive record includes 18 gold, 14 silver, and 10 bronze medals across numerous tournaments. In 2025, he achieved a milestone by winning the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship. Before his Jiu-Jitsu journey, Shawn served as a U.S. Navy Deep Sea Diver for four years and worked in commercial steel sales for 28 years, bringing discipline, precision, and leadership to his teaching. CDA Jiu-Jitsu's training philosophy emphasizes technical excellence, character development, and personal growth both on and off the mats. The academy offers programs for all ages and skill levels, including fundamentals classes for beginners, advanced training for experienced practitioners, kids programs (Little Lions ages 7-14), and No-Gi grappling.
