Gracie Barra Middlesbrough is part of the worldwide Gracie Barra network, one of the most respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organizations with over 900 schools across six continents. Led by Professor Gareth Murphy, a black belt head instructor, the academy follows the Gracie Barra curriculum and training philosophy established by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. The gym offers comprehensive BJJ programs for all ages and skill levels. For children ages 3-15, the Kids & Teens program provides a structured environment that teaches core values like focus, discipline, persistence, cooperation, and respect through the practice of Jiu-Jitsu. Adult programs include GB1 (Fundamentals) for beginners, GB2 (Advanced Jiu-Jitsu) for intermediate students, and GB3 (Expert Jiu-Jitsu) for advanced practitioners and black belts. The academy also offers No-Gi classes and private one-on-one instruction. The instructing team includes Professor Gareth Murphy as head instructor, along with coaches Anthony Saunders and Jay Murphy, and program director Halyley Murphy.
