Train BJJ Anywhere You Go

Drop-in policies, class schedules, and mat fees — the info you actually need to train while traveling. No more showing up and hoping for the best.

Training While Traveling Shouldn't Be This Hard

Drop-in policies are buried or nonexistent

Does this gym accept drop-ins? Do you need to email ahead? Is there a mat fee? Most gym websites don't say.

Schedules don't match your availability

You've got a 2-hour window between meetings. Good luck finding which gyms have classes at that exact time.

Gi or no-gi? Who knows.

You packed your gi. The gym only does no-gi on Tuesdays. Now you're doing an open mat in borrowed shorts.

You waste time on logistics

Emailing gyms, checking Instagram for updated schedules, asking Reddit — it's a hassle that eats into your trip.

Traveling Practitioner Tips

Always bring your belt

Even if you're packing light, your belt weighs nothing. Many gyms want to know your rank.

Message ahead when possible

Even drop-in friendly gyms appreciate a heads-up. Check if they have a contact method listed.

Bring cash for mat fees

Not all gyms take cards for drop-ins. $20-30 is typical in the US; varies internationally.

Check for open mats

If the schedule doesn't have a class at your time, there might be an open mat. We list those too.

Respect the house rules

Different gyms have different cultures. Be humble, introduce yourself to the coach, and follow their lead.
