bjj.space is a community platform for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct, or delete it.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email address, encrypted password.
- Profile data: belt rank, training history, photos, gym affiliations, and any information you choose to share on your public profile.
- Mobile device data: Apple Push Notification (APNs) device tokens, sent when you opt in to push notifications in the iOS app.
- Usage analytics: page visits, IP-derived approximate geographic location, browser/app user agent (via our self-hosted analytics).
- Error telemetry: stack traces and request context sent to Sentry when something breaks. Personally-identifying fields are scrubbed before transmission.
- Payment data: when you buy something or book a class, payment details are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted processors to run the service:
- Stripe — payment processing (purchases, gym memberships, event tickets).
- Brevo — transactional email delivery.
- Sentry — error monitoring.
- Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) — delivering push notifications to your iOS device.
- Mapbox and Google Places — geocoding and map rendering.
- ipinfo — IP-to-city lookup for showing you local events.
We do not sell your data and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Why we collect it
- To run your account, profile, and gym memberships.
- To show you nearby gyms, events, and athletes.
- To send notifications you have asked for.
- To process payments for tickets, memberships, and marketplace orders.
- To keep the service running, debug issues, and prevent abuse.
Retention
Account and profile data are kept while your account is active. Analytics and error logs are kept for 90 days. Payment records are retained as required by financial regulations.
Your rights
You can access and edit your profile and account data at any time from your account settings.
You can delete your account from inside the app. Visit your account settings and use the "Delete my account" option at the bottom of the page. When you delete your account, your email and name are immediately anonymized, your profile photo and device tokens are removed, and you are signed out. Community contributions you made (gym edits, event corrections, etc.) are retained without your name attached, so the rest of the community keeps the benefit of your work.
For data access, correction, or any other privacy request, email privacy@bjj.space.
