Queens Jiu-Jitsu

Gi Jiu Jitsu classes are practiced in the traditional “gi” uniform. In training, the gi material provides extra friction which slows the game down and can assist beginners in skill development due to the relatively manageable pace of movement. The uniform also provides grips which can be used as points of control or assist in the application of submissions. While students practicing regularly are expected to bring their own gi, brand new students can borrow an academy uniform for their first class. Uniforms are available for purchase at the academy, but there are no restrictions on where uniforms are purchased or what color they are. **Required gear:** Gi top & bottom, belt. Footwear for walking off the mats (no walking off the mats barefoot) Optional gear: mouthpiece (recommended), cup (plastic only, no steel cups) Please remove all jewelry and accessories.
