Micah's grappling journey began in 2000 with wrestling at Reynolds High School, where he earned provincial and national medals. After wrestling in college, he transitioned to mixed martial arts and began training jiu-jitsu in early 2011. Today, Micah continues to compete internationally on stages including Fight2win, Combat Worlds, and Submission Underground, bringing elite-level experience to his students. Founded and led by Head Instructor Jorge Britto, a 4th degree black belt with extensive competition experience, the academy is part of the Jiu-Jitsu for Life Team association, which has quickly established itself as a key player in the Canadian BJJ scene through athletes such as Yacinda Nguyen and Darson Hemmings. The academy's mission is to provide a safe and welcoming training environment that fosters personal growth, physical fitness, and mental toughness through the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jorge Britto was born on December 13, 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He began training BJJ at age 13 under Fernando "Nutri-Baby" Silva, a black belt under Carlson Gracie, before making Gracie Tijuca (an affiliate of Gracie Humaitá) his home academy. Britto was promoted to black belt on February 12, 2005 by his coaches at Gracie Tijuca. He moved to Canada in May 2008, initially representing the Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu Academy before forming his own association, Jiu-Jitsu For Life Team, in October 2016 with Josh Rapport. Among his achievements, Britto is the 2015 World Masters Champion, 2010 ADCC European Qualifier Champion, and 2009 World No-GI Masters Absolute Black Belt World Champion. He has studied with legendary practitioners including Helio Gracie, Saulo Ribeiro, and Royler Gracie.
