Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Headquarters represents one of the most prestigious lineages in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Founded by Grand Master Carlos Machado, an 8th Degree Coral Belt and eldest of the legendary Machado brothers, this academy is deeply rooted in the Gracie family tradition. Carlos is cousin to the Gracie family and was personally mentored by Carlos Gracie Sr. and Rolls Gracie. As one of the pioneers who brought Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the United States in the early 1990s, Carlos is known as the "Godfather of Jiu-Jitsu" in Texas and the Southwest, with most of the BJJ lineage in the region tracing back to him. The academy's training philosophy emphasizes technical excellence, character development, and disciplined progress over gimmicks or shortcuts. Guided by the Machado Method, instruction focuses on fundamentals-first approach, structured curriculum, and measurable progression. The academy culture prioritizes respect, accountability, and community building in a safe, supportive environment. Carlos personally teaches all students and actively trains alongside his black belts, ensuring direct supervision and guidance from one of the art's true masters. Carlos Machado has promoted numerous high-profile practitioners to black belt, including Rafael Lovato Jr. (former Bellator Champion), Travis Lutter (The Ultimate Fighter winner), and dozens of black belts who have found success in MMA and competitive BJJ. His influence extends through the Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Association, one of the largest BJJ organizations in the world. The headquarters academy offers programs for all ages - Kids Martial Arts (emphasizing confidence, focus, and leadership), Teen/Adult BJJ (strength, mental toughness, and real skill development), and Summer Camp programs, all maintaining the highest standards of traditional martial arts instruction.
