Jiu Jitsu tournaments for my children and all the kids in my kids programs are preparation for life. That’s what I try teaching them why is important to compete. As an educator my main job is to teach them values first. Which makes all of this not necessarily about the results only but mostly about the power of commitment, preparation, hard work, and discipline. Medals and trophies might seem silly to some people, but they represent something deeper. They teach that if you want to be rewarded, you have to work hard, do your best, make sacrifices, and push past your limits. That’s how life routine becomes life achievement. The preparation shows that success doesn’t happen by accident. You have to train, stay consistent, and try to be the best version of yourself in your environment. Training with teammates every day also shows that everything is better when you have a support system. You grow together, push each other, celebrate each other’s progress, and have a shoulder to lean on when things don’t go your way. Most importantly, the daily training teaches discipline.
