A student's Neck was broken as a result of the Instructor "Sinistro" attempting a risky Jiu-Jitsu technique. There is now a $46 Million court case, that has been found in the favour of the Injured student Jack Greener. The situation is tragic and resulted in Jack becoming a quadriplegic and having to undergo many surgeries and being robbed of a healthy and happy life. The controversy is the role of Renner Gracie as an expert witness. His testimony resulted in the court finding Sinistro negligent. Renner Gracie was paid $100,000 for his role in the case. The problem is he also dictates industry standards that are simply his standards not actual BJJ Standards. Should Renner Gracie be dictating what is the standard is for all Jiu-Jitsu and also profiting off a tragedy?
