# The path championship series lightweight qualifier

## Overview

**Event Type:** Competition

**Description:** This will be a round robin tournament. Brackets will be separated into groups of 4. The winner from each group will be entered into the tournament to become the inaugural Path submission series champion in a single elimination championship event to detemine the champion.  The overall champion will receive a $500 minimum Cash prize and custom trophy.   Prize will escalate based on number of registrations. 

This is an open level tournament to guarantee mat time for all competitors.  Brackets will be mixed up to ensure even difficulties (as close as possible) for each qualifying bracket.

Matches will be 6 minutes in length and will be submission only for the duration.  If no submission is acheived, a judges decision will be made to determine a winner. Criteria will be initiating action, and offensive attacks, submission attempts, control and dominant position.  These are weighted evenly and the match will be judged as a whole.   SIMPLY LOCKING AND HOLDING CLOSED GUARD WILL NOT COUNT FOR CONTROL TIME you must be attacking from the bottom.  Stalling calls will result in losing the first criteria. 

All submissions except z lock are allowed.   No slams.  No jumping guard. No scissor takedowns. 

Winners of bracket will be determined based off of win loss record.  In the event of an even win loss record, the winner of the match up between the top two will be declared the winner of the bracket.
