Terms of Service

Last updated: August 31, 2026

bjj.space is a community platform for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. These terms are the agreement between you and bjj.space when you use the site or the app. Using bjj.space means you accept them. If you don't, please don't use it.

Your account

You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live. Keep your details accurate and your sign-in secure — anything done through your account is treated as done by you. You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why unless we're legally prevented from doing so.

What you post

What you write, upload, or contribute stays yours. You give us permission to store, display, and share it on bjj.space so the platform can work — nothing more. Only post things you have the right to post, and don't post anything unlawful, abusive, or misleading. We can edit or remove contributions, and we moderate submissions before they go live.

Listings may be wrong

Gyms, events, schedules, prices, and athlete records come from gym owners, event organisers, public sources, and the community. We check what we can, but we can't promise any of it is accurate or current. Confirm details with the gym or organiser before you travel, pay, or turn up. If you spot something wrong, tell us or submit a correction.

Buying things

Payments are handled by Stripe, and we never see your card details. When you buy an event ticket or pay a gym, your contract is with that organiser or gym, not with us — they set the price, deliver what you bought, and handle refunds and cancellations. When you buy from the marketplace, your contract is with us. Fees we charge are shown before you pay.

What you can't do

Don't scrape or bulk-copy the site, don't try to break or overload it, don't impersonate anyone, and don't use it to harass people or to advertise unrelated things. Don't claim a gym or a profile that isn't yours.

What we don't promise

bjj.space is provided as it is. We don't guarantee it will always be available, and we may change or remove features. Training is a physical activity with real risk: we're a directory, not a party to what happens on the mats, and choosing a gym is your decision.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for anything that happens between you and a gym, organiser, or another user. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. If you're a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll say so on the site before it takes effect. Carrying on using bjj.space after that means you accept the new version.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
