His lineage traces through Chris Kim (Kied Training Center), who promoted him to black belt in July 2022, following previous promotions from brown belt instructor Chris Kim (Team Passi, 2018), purple belt from Lee Sung-jin (Tetra Jiu-Jitsu, 2015), and blue belt from Kim Sang-rim (Jiu-Jitsu Rak, 2012). Eric began training in May 2011. The gym emphasizes animal drills, bodyweight conditioning, technical feedback, unlimited sparring, and practical takedown training. Eric Seo graduated from Kyung Hee University with a degree in English linguistics, speaks fluent English and Chinese, and worked briefly at LG Pantos after military service as a KATUSA (Korean Augmentation to the US Army) interpreter at Camp Casey.
