**Description:** PURE JIUJITSU was founded in 2019 with the goal of delivering world class Brazilian jiu-jitsu in a state of the art facility.

All of our instructors are seasoned black belt competitors who compete on the world stage. 

Whether your goal is to get fit, gain confidence through self defence, compete or improve your skills for MMA, PURE JIUJITSU can accommodate. 

Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is martial art and combat sport that focuses primarily on grappling and ground techniques. With its roots in Japanese Judo/Kano jiujitsu, jiu-jitsu was adapted. The main philosophy of jiu-jitsu is that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a stronger, heavier and bigger opponent through the use of leverage and technique. 

  
Jiu-jitsu practitioners aim to take the fight to the ground through the use of joint locks and choke holds. They can defeat their opponent or force the opponent to give up and “tap out”.

  
Commonly referred to as one of the most efficient martial arts, it is a great way to promote physical fitness, confidence and character building. 

For many BJJ is not just an art, it’s a way of life.

**Bio:** Arya Esfandmaz is a London-born black belt under Lúcio Rodrigues and the founder of Pure Jiu-Jitsu in London. He won his heavyweight prelim at Polaris 34 by triangle armbar.


### Neal Klimek - Purple

**Role:** Instructor

**Bio:** Purple belt under Arya Esfandmaz and a kids' coach at Pure Jiujitsu. He competed in the pro division at ADCC UK Nationals 2026.
