Fatjo's Mixed Martial Arts has been serving the Morganville, New Jersey community since 1996, offering authentic training in multiple martial arts disciplines. Founded and operated by Jerry Fatjo, the academy is dedicated to every student's continual growth, both mentally and physically, through comprehensive Mixed Martial Arts training. Jerry Fatjo was honored by the New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame with the "Martial Arts Trainer" award, recognizing his dedication to the martial arts community.
The academy teaches a blend of the world's most effective martial arts including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Submission Grappling, and Eskrima (Filipino Martial Arts). With programs designed for students as young as 4 years old through adults, Fatjo's MMA builds lasting characteristics such as confidence, courtesy, perseverance, and healthy fitness habits. The Little Champions program specifically caters to 4 and 5 year old children, providing age-appropriate martial arts instruction.
Jerry Fatjo is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Professor Fernando Sarmento Jr., having earned his black belt in October 2014. His BJJ journey began with his blue belt in March 2003, purple belt in April 2007, and brown belt in November 2011. He continues training with Brazilian Black Belt champion Fernando "Cabeca" Sarmento. Professor Sarmento, a 4th Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, teaches the Tuesday and Friday night Adult Only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes. Beyond BJJ, Jerry is also a Master Instructor under Sifu Richard Bustillo and a long-time student of Ajarn Phil Nurse, bringing a well-rounded martial arts perspective to his teaching.
