BDKN Martial Arts

Bear's Den Grappling Center

Bear's Den Grappling Center is a veteran-owned non-profit dedicated to producing men, women, and children of character through wrestling, jiu-jitsu, sportsmanship, and hard work to be champions on and off the mat. Located in Wyandotte, Michigan, the gym is affiliated with Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu under Chris Blanke and Toledo Jiu-Jitsu. The gym is led by Head Coach Jeffrey Alan Maloney, a black belt who has been involved in wrestling since 1984 and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2009. Coach Maloney received his black belt in 2019 while training within the Jiu-Jitsu for Life Association, and joined Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu in summer 2021. He is an accomplished competitor with multiple IBJJF podium finishes, including a silver medal at the 2022 IBJJF Pan Championships as a black belt. He has also been part of the Wyandotte Wrestling coaching staff since 2005. Coach Andrea, a brown belt, assists with the children's classes and has been training under Coach Maloney since 2017. She is a full-time mom and professional firefighter/EMT with numerous competition achievements, including gold medals at IBJJF Pans and World Masters. Behring Last Stand

Merced MMA, established in 2007 in Merced, California, is owned and operated by 3rd degree Black Belt Professor Marcos Tomé. Bellatleo

Bellatleo is the only gym in southern Hokkaido offering both Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The name "Bellatleo" combines the Latin words "Bellator" (warrior) and "Leo" (lion), reflecting the gym's fighting spirit. The gym has a rich history dating back to 1998 when current representative Tsutomu Fujimoto joined the martial arts circle Mr. V. Hakodate. It became Paraestra Hakodate, the third branch of legendary jiu-jitsu master Yuki Nakai's Paraestra Tokyo network. After renaming to Paraestra Hakodate, the gym gained independence from the Paraestra network in 2012 and has operated as Bellatleo ever since. Head instructor Tsutomu Fujimoto became the second person in Hokkaido to achieve a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has been instrumental in developing Hokkaido's BJJ community since its early days. The gym has produced five professional MMA fighters, with Mitsuhiro Takeda being the first professional fighter from Hakodate, demonstrating that athletes from regional cities can compete at the professional level. Fujimoto holds a 3rd degree black belt in BJJ and 6th dan in Kodokan Judo, and has won multiple championships including the Asian Championship brown belt master pennant division in 2006 and placed 3rd at the 2025 World Jiu-Jitsu Championships master 51 black belt featherweight division.

The academy offers programs for kids (ages 5-14), adults of all levels in both Gi and No-Gi, as well as advanced members-only classes for experienced practitioners. Head Instructor Norbert Nowak is a third-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with over 16 years of coaching experience. Having competed at national and international levels in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wrestling, Norbert has won countless titles across the world and coached many national, international, and European champions. He is known for his friendly, down-to-earth approach combined with meticulous attention to detail and a methodical style of teaching that blends old-school fundamentals with modern concepts. Ram Dau, also a black belt, heads up the Pro Jiu Jitsu Children's programme with over 4 years of experience. She is known for being kind and patient, helping students out of their shell and encouraging everyone to work together as one team.
